UPSC Geologist 2018– Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologist 2018 Examination Notification on 21 March 2018. On the same day, the online registration for the examination will also be started online. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility conditions will be able to send their application form till 16 April 2018. UPSC conducts the Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologist 2018 Examination on 29 June 2018 for recruitment of eligible candidates to the posts of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist, and Junior Hydrogeologists. UPSC Geologist 2018- Eligibility Criteria

Candidates have to satisfy the below mention eligibility of UPSC Geologist Exam before filling the application forms-

 A candidate must be either:

  • A Citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above should produce a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India at the time of Interview as only eligible candidates will receive the final appointment letter.

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2018)–  A candidate for this examination must have attained the age criteria as prescribed below:-

  • For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India- A candidate’s age must be in-between 21 years to 32 years i.e. he/she must have been born after than 2 January, 1986 and before than 1 January 1997.
  • For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Ground Water Board- A candidate’s age must be in-between 21 years to 35 years i.e. He/she must have been born after than 2 January 1983 and before than 1 January 1997.

Educational Qualification

  • For Geologist-  Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a University
  • For Geophysicist- M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) Or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University
  • For Chemist- M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University
  • For Jr. Hydrogeologist- Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a University

UPSC Geologist 2018- Application Form

Only online application forms will be issued. To access the same, eligible candidates need to visit the website, Direct link to fill the online application form candidates can click the above provided link. The online application form will remain active till 21 March 2018. Candidates need to submit all the necessary details in the provided format and should upload a scanned copy of recent passport size photograph and signature. To complete the UPSC Geologist application form, candidates must not forget to submit the online application fee.

Application Fee

Candidates need to pay an amount of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card or by using the net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore. Candidates belonging to Female/SC/ST/ PH categories are exempted to pay the fee. Make note that the last date to pay the application fee by cash is 16 March 2018.

UPSC Geologist 2018- Admit Card

The admit card of UPSC Geologist 2018 exam will be uploaded on the official website of UPSC in the last week of April 2018. No Admit card will be sent through the post. Candidates whose application forms will be accepted by the Commission before the last date would be able to download the admit card. Link to download the admit card will also be updated here.

UPSC Geologist 2018- Result

The written Geologist Exam result will be declared in the month of July/ August 2018. Candidates who successfully qualify the written examination with a minimum cut off marks will be called to appear in the Interview/ Personality test to be held in September 2018 and the Final result will be announced in September 2018 only. Final UPSC Geologist Cutoff 2018 will be issued after the declaration of the final result.
