Doing preparation for this tough exam after taking a 9 hours work shift is a really difficult job. So How to prepare for CAT 2024 while working? What should be the planning strategies to use the limited amount of time we get after doing a hectic job? The answer to these questions is explained in this article.

CAT 2024 Study Strategy for Working Professional

CAT Preparation requires around 200-500 hours of serious study if you want to achieve a high score in CAT. There is a very limited amount of time left for the working professionals, so it is better to manage your time wisely to prepare for CAT 2024.

You can study at least 2 hours regularly to continue the flow of studying. On weekends you can add on hours to manage your topics accordingly. Follow the exam pattern of CAT 2024 and understand the sections you need to work more on.

CAT is generally divided into 5 sections, which are as follows:

    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Data Interpretation
    • Logical Reasoning
    • Reading Comprehension
    • Verbal Ability

Each section carries equal marks so it will be wrong to give importance to just one or two sections. Go through the CAT syllabus and plot a systematic plan according to the difficulties you face in solving questions. Make a whole week’s timetable such that every section is included in the study hours. Be honest with yourself while following the schedule.

Try to solve as many Mock tests as possible, you can solve them in the break time you get in your office. Read newspapers and books to update your knowledge skills.

You can manage your time by dividing it into three phases which are-

    • Basics
    • Practice and
    • Testing

    1. Basics- If you don’t feel comfortable in any topics, you should start them from the basic level. Clearing your basics from the initial level will help you a lot while preparing for CAT. In the end time, you will just need to revise the topics once only if your basics are clear. In this way, you can save your energy as well as your time. Make a notebook and mark all the queries you face while preparing for different sections. Solve these problems and go through them before giving the final exam, in this way you will be able to solve questions without many hurdles.

    2. Practice- This is the phase where most of the working professionals lose their interest in CAT. They solve one or two questions from a chapter and don’t practice them enough. As a result, they get confused during the paper and end up with a low score. You should avoid such mistakes and practice a lot of questions in the areas you feel weak in. Practising questions will improve your confidence level and in this way, you can solve the questions correctly with the required accuracy.

    3. Testing– Giving mock tests will make it easy to figure out your strong and weak points. In the last 2 months of your preparation, you should try to appear in at least one mock in a week. Try to solve the questions in a given time, it will give you a rough idea about the time you should spend on each question. By testing yourself you can boost your confidence and also you can revise all the syllabus in a less time.

In this way, you can spend your first month in clearing the basics of each topic, second and third month on practising a variety of questions and fourth and fifth month in giving mock tests at least once every week

So devote yourself completely for 5-6 months in the CAT preparation and strictly follow your schedule along with the job hours.

Join online CAT preparation courses and don’t get distracted from the track. And most importantly have faith in yourself, do smart work with full dedication and you will definitely be able to crack CAT 2024.
