She was the daughter of Himalaya and Mainka, an incarnation of Sati, who was later married to Lord Shiva. Maa Durga is also known as Adi Shakti. Durga Puja is celebrated for nine days in the month of Ashwin, with the nine forms of Maa Durga being worshipped on each of the nine days. Durga Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm across various regions of India, and temples and pandals are beautifully decorated.
