XAT Exam Pattern 2026
The XAT exam is divided into two papers — Paper 1 and Paper 2 — with a total of 101 questions to be answered in 3 hours and 10 minutes (190 minutes).

- Paper 1 includes multiple-choice questions across three key sections.
- Paper 2 consists of 25 General Knowledge questions and 1 essay writing task.
- The XAT 2026 is a national level online entrance test.
- Paper 1 will have a total of 75 questions. This Paper will include questions on Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.
- XAT exam duration is 3 hours 10 minutes. There will be no extra time given to the candidates to answer the paper.

Marking Scheme for XAT 2026
As per the XAT exam pattern, the marking scheme of the exam is as follows:
- +1 mark for each correct answer.
- -0.25 marks for each incorrect answer in Paper 1.
- No negative marking for General Knowledge section.
- -0.10 marks penalty if more than 8 consecutive questions are left unanswered.
- General Knowledge scores are not counted in the final percentile.
The candidates who qualify the test will be called for counselling which will be conducted online. The XAT result will be put up online on the website for the candidates to check their score. They will need their roll number to check their results on the official XLRI website.
