The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of India’s top entrance exams for MBA and PGDM courses. It is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year. One of the most common questions asked by students is, “Is there any age limit for CAT?” The good news is—no, there is no age limit! The Indian Institute of Management doesn’t mention the age requirement for the CAT exam.
Anyone, from any age group, can apply for the CAT exam 2025, as long as they meet the educational eligibility criteria.
CAT Age Limit 2025 for Admission
As per the CAT eligibility requirement, there is no age restriction for the CAT exam. To apply for the CAT exam, the latest age limit for students is detailed below.
- A Graduation in any stream or equivalent from a recognized University.
- A candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent for the General Category and 45% for the reserved category.
- The final year candidates of the Bachelor’s degree also qualify to apply for the CAT exam. However, such students have to submit the Certificate of Completion from the registrar or principal of their University or before the date specified by the respective IIMs.
- Aspirants with work experience will be provided with extra priority or weightage. However, the work experience is not important according to the CAT eligibility criteria 2025.
- No age limit is for the CAT exam 2025. Despite age, aspirants can apply for this CAT test.
CAT Exam Age Limit for General Candidates
No age restriction is given for General Category aspirants. It means anyone can appear for the entrance test at any age, given that they fulfill other eligibility criteria and the CAT educational qualification.
CAT Age Limit for OBC
Equivalent to the General Category, no age limit is given for applicants coming from the non-creamy layer OBC category. Candidates have to fulfill the educational qualification to be eligible to sit in the CAT paper.
CAT 2025 Age Limit for SC/ST/EWS and PwD
No fixed age limit is for applicants belonging to the EWS, SC, ST and PwD sections. If the given education criteria are fulfilled by these aspirants, they will be allowed to appear in the CAT exam 2025.
CAT Age Limit for IIMs
To take admission in the best management institutes in India, i.e., IIMs, for MBA/PGDM courses, candidates appear in the CAT exam. IIM is completely different from infrastructure to placements to the expanded global alumni network. Age restriction can be a question to those who wish to take admission in IIM. However, IIM doesn’t provide any age restriction for students to take entry in MBA/PGDM courses.
CAT Age Limit 2025 for Working Professionals
Working professionals willing to appear in the CAT may be stunned if there is an age restriction to their dream MBA. No exact age limit is detailed for the CAT entrance test, even for working professionals. IIMs provide special programs to working professionals. Their work experience can be an extra benefit while applying through CAT to IIM or other MBA/PGDM colleges.
