  1. APJ Abdul Kalam completed his graduation from St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, in 1954 and earned a degree in aerospace engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai, in 1960.
  2. Kalam worked as a scientist in DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), where he designed a small helicopter for the Indian Army. He also worked under Dr. Vikram Sarabhai as part of the ‘INCOSPAR’ committee.
  3. Kalam joined the Indian Space Research Organization in 1969 as the Project Director of India’s first indigenous satellite missile (SLV-III). His great contributions were in the development of ballistic missiles in India, and he also played an important role in the successful Pokhran-II nuclear test of 1998.
  4. Even though he didn’t have connections with the political field, he was politically productive due to his patriotism and devotion to open government assistance.
  5. APJ Abdul Kalam was a visionary who always focused on the development of the country. In his book titled India 2020, he outlined an action plan for the nation’s development.
