JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2026 – Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct the JEE Advanced 2026 for admission to various undergraduate engineering programmes offered by 16 IITs, located at Bombay, Delhi, Jodhpur, Indore, Madras, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Ropar, Hyderabad, Roorkee, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Mandi, Gandhinagar, and Varanasi. JEE Advanced is a national level computer-based entrance test, to be conducted on May 17, 2026. Only to 2,50,000 JEE Main Qualifiers will be able to appear in the JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates have to apply for the JEE Advanced by providing their JEE Main 2026 rank, scores and other mandatory information.

Without being eligible, the candidates will not be allowed to appear in the exam. JEE Advanced Eligibility 2026

Criterion 1- JEE Main 2026 Candidates should have qualified the JEE Main 2026 before applying for JEE Advanced.
Criterion 2- Performance in JEE Main 2026 Candidate’s rank in JEE Main should be below than 2, 50, 000* (including all categories) in Paper 1. The percentage of various categories are as follows:OBC NCL- 27%.SC- 15%ST- 7.5%Open for all- 50.5%
Criterion 3- Number of Attempts Candidates can only appear in JEE (Advanced) two times in 02 consecutive years.
Criterion 4- Qualifying Examination Candidates must have qualified Class 12th or intermediate exam for the first time in either 2025 or 2026.
Criterion 5- Age Limit Candidates should have been born on or after 01 October 2001.  SC, ST and PwD candidates can avail the 05 years’ of relaxation i.e. they should be born  on or after 01 October 1996.
Criterion 6- Earlier Admission at IITs If a candidate got admission in any of the IITs previously, then he/she should are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2026 irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program.Candidates who studied in a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2025 can appear in JEE Advanced 2026.
